Rep. Wortz eager to serve, announces legislative staff for Lansing office
RELEASE|January 9, 2025

State Rep. Jennifer Wortz, R-Quincy, today announced her new legislative staff that will be working in her Capitol office.

Jonathan Meckel will serve as Rep. Wortz’s Legislative Director, and Nicole Bohacz will be Rep. Wortz’s Legislative Aide in charge of constituent services. Both Meckel and Bohacz are in-district residents of Hillsdale and Coldwater respectively.

As a graduate of Hillsdale College, Meckel has most recently worked as a legislative staffer for Rep. Mike Harris. He now brings his legislative experience to the community where he and his wife live with their daughter.

“I’m really excited to get working for the people of the 35th district,” Meckel said. “I know Rep. Wortz cares deeply about her community. She will do everything she can to work hard for Michigan families and make this a place they can thrive. It’s an honor and a privilege to support her in that capacity.”

Born and raised in Branch County, Bohacz is a mom of two kids and coaches several youth sports in the area. She has served alongside Rep. Wortz on the Branch County Republican Party’s Executive Committee.

“I am thrilled to be working for Rep. Wortz and excited to be beside her as we work hard for the changes our community wants to see. We have an exciting and challenging two years ahead of us, but she is the one for the job and I am happy to be a part of this team.”

Wortz expressed her eagerness to utilize her experience serving the public in representing southern Michigan families. As an agribusiness owner, former Conservation District Manager, former school board member, and homeschool mom, Wortz looks to bring her knowledge in a wide assortment of policy areas to Lansing.

“Families in Hillsdale County, Branch County, and the City of Hudson can be certain that they will continue to receive quality representation from this office,” Wortz said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to be a voice for anyone struggling. My staff and I are prepared to help anyone who reaches out to us.”
