State Rep. Ron Robinson, who serves on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Medicaid & Behavioral Health, released the following statement after the committee voted out their recommended budget.
“Keeping Medicaid fully funded, protected, and sustainable for the people who depend on it is a top priority.
“Last year, we didn’t just talk about protecting Medicaid, we took action and got it done. After the state Senate’s budget underfunded the program by $500 million, we stepped up and restored those dollars, making sure people could continue getting the care they rely on. People over politics. It’s that simple.
“This year, we’re building on that work by investing $800 million in the program to keep Medicaid strong and secure. We’re also putting $50 million behind safeguards like work requirements and stronger fraud investigations to make sure the program is working as intended and resources are going to the people who truly need them.
“We’ve shown what’s possible when we work together and focus on delivering commonsense solutions that help Michigan families. I’m committed to ensuring Michigan’s Medicaid program remains strong, stable, and focused on the people it’s meant to serve.”
